特徴[1][2][3]
頭部は前胸背より長い。
後頭楯は強く突出する。
複眼を含めた頭部の幅は、中胸背と同じかわずかに狭い。
複眼は前胸背側方から強くはみ出す。
前胸背の幅は頭部と同じか、それより狭い。
♂腹部は細く、頭部+胸部より長い。
♂背弁は不完全で、発音膜が露出する。
♂腹弁は短く平ら。
前翅の翅脈MとCu1は根元で別れている。
前・後翅は比較的広く、前翅の幅は長さの1/3以上ある。
♂外部生殖器thecaは巻かれたように曲がっている。
♀産卵管は腹部から長く突出する。

備考
属名の由来はサンスクリット語の「歌手」を意味する単語。[4]
Gaeana atkinsoniを除き、互いによく似る種で構成された属。
マダラガ属のガに擬態していると言われている。[5]
