特徴[1]
体躯は厚く頑丈。
複眼を含む頭部の幅は中胸背と同じかわずかに狭い。
頭部は前胸背より短い。
後頭楯はほとんど、あるいは全く突出しない。
前胸背外片後方は斜めあるいは円く広がる。
腹部は頭部+胸部より長い。(おそらく♂)
前翅と後翅は大きく広く、完全またはやや不透明。
翅脈は特筆すべき程分岐する。
前翅の前縁(costa)は一般的なそれと比べると厚い。
♂腹弁は広い。長さは短いか、またはacoustic chamberを若干超す程度。
♂背弁は広く、背側と側方でacoustic chamberを隠す。
♂外部生殖器はいわゆるPolyneura typeで、phallicophorの側方から指のように突出部がでる(文献によってはこれをuncusと扱っている)
Graptopsaltriaに関しては翅脈層は通常であるなど、いくつか矛盾するが詳細不明。

備考
Graptopsaltriaについては、むしろ別亜族に属しているFormotosenaに形態的にも遺伝子的にも近い[2][3]。
